What is the Improvers Group?
The Improvers' group is for runners who are currently running around 3 to 5km and want to work towards a more comfortable 5k run, or feel better about running 5k. The course is running alongside our 0 to 5k group in the War Memorial Park, Coventry. To join, you just need to sign up for the 0 to 5k course. Turn up at 6.30 on a Tuesday and we'll all warm up together. Then, we'll direct you to the Improvers' group for your run and training session.
Is it Right For You?
Perhaps you have just completed a couch to 5k on your own? Or, you attended one of our 0 to 5k running courses, but you're not quite ready to join our Wednesday 5 to 10 km running group. Maybe you can run for 10 or 20 minutes, but you’re just not entirely at ease running 5k yet without stopping. If any of these scenarios apply to you, our new Improvers' course could be for you.
The Problem With Running - And How Our Improvers' Course Can Help
Many people start off with a 0 to 5k course and then give up halfway through or at the end of the course. Some people feel out of breath, their legs or muscles ache, or running is just a lot harder than they thought. Or, maybe you just don't feel motivated running on your own, or you're worried about running on your own from a safety perspective.
If you’re struggling, having like-minded people around you will help you to keep going. And, it's much safer and more fun running with other people.
The Aims of Our Coventry 5km Running Course for Improvers
If you can already run for 10 to 20 minutes without stopping, come and join us in the War Memorial Park in Coventry on a Tuesday night at 6.30. We’ll help you push yourself a little bit further and develop confidence, strength, and fitness. By the end of the course, we want you to be able to run 5km and enjoy it. And, as long as you attend every week and run in between the sessions, we think that’s exactly what you’ll be doing.
If you want to, you can then consider joining our Wednesday group, which also starts from the War Memorial Park in Coventry. This group runs between 5km and 10 km each week, and we incorporate training to improve speed and technique, including sprints, laps, bleep tests, and more.
How to Join Us
To join our Improvers' running course, click on the link and join our 0 to 5km running course. Every session, you'll do a warm-up and group run, participate in some core exercises, and then cool down. That way, you are less likely to injure yourself or suffer aches and pains, and more likely to progress.
Exercise is proven to benefit mental as well as physical health. We’d love you to join us.
